Homeschool Field Trip to the Aquarium

Earlier this month we took a homeschool friend trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  It was such and amazing day.  We spent the day with good friends and created many happy memories with them.  My husband took the afternoon off and meet us there.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium  is a huge place!  It takes all day to walk around and look at everything.  It was such a blessing to participate in Free Homeschool Days.  Yes, FREE!  They have 2 days for 3 months that give homeschool families the opportunity to come for free.  We signed up back in September online and reserved our spot in Nov.  It would have cost our family of 9 over $250 just to get in.  So we were very thankful to participate in these days.

My  children were able to see sea life up close and creatures they have never seem before.  It was fantiatic to see God’s creations up close.  From jelly fish to sea otters, from sardines to hammer-head sharks.  It was magnificent! I tried my best to take video of our day but my phone ran out of power a few hours into the day. I put together what I had and made  a video on YouTube.  A link  to the video is right here.

20 Years Together

My husband and I recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. It does not seem like it has been that long.  20 years and 7 children. WOW!  Time has just flown by.

I remember our wedding day. It was a beautiful June day.  The weather was perfect.  Not hot and not cold.  Just right. I wasn’t a bit nervous.  It was a lovely service filled with beauty and love and humor.  We have many memories from that day.  We were with friends  and family and celebrated our day together.  I loved my dress!  Oh, how I loved it.  We went off in a horse and buggy.  So much fun!  My brother cooked the most delicious food that day. He is an amazing chef.  When the day was done we drove off to our honeymoon.  It was a fun-filled 2 weeks.   The Lord blessed our day and has blessed our marriage.

There have been happy times and stressful times.  There have been joys and struggles.  There have been tears and laughter.  God is our rock, he is our provider, our cornerstone.  All we have we owe to the Lord.   The Lord has been by our side all these 20 years.  We remain faithful in church, to each other and to God.  God deserves all the glory and praise for our 20 years.  I am thankful to God for giving me a godly husband.  A husband who wants to serve the Lord and enjoys doing so.  A faithful, loving, kind and forgiving husband.

The Lord has blessed us with 7 children.  What a quiver full!  Did you know that 7 is Gods number of completion? Yup, it is.  Each of our children are such a joy and so different from each other.  Having 5 boys first gave us so many comments.  Hahahaha!  Some people just speak their minds and other tell you big families are a blessing.  Then the Lord gave us 2 girls and more comments came.  Seriously people?  Ya just got to laugh it off.  We love our children and enjoy big family life.   We couldn’t imagine it any other way.

God has been so very good to us and for that we are thankful.

Psalm 127:3-5 (KJV)

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

I am now the proud mother of a 14 yr old.

He has grown up so fast.  He truly has!  His 3 yr old sister loves him the best.  They have a bond.  Quin takes good care of her. He misses New York the most out of all our children.

Our family tradition for birthdays is homemade cinnamon rolls. What a treat they are! so gooey and delicious!

This year he wanted to go to laser tag with his friends and they all had the best time together!  What a fun day he had!

I used self-control and did not have a bite!  Oh, that was so hard because they looked so yummy!

Do you have any birthday traditions?  Please share them in the comments.

God loves you!

I recently found a little saying that was just perfect.  It spoke to me.  I was searching the internet for phrases about saying yes to God.  This one jumped out at me and I feel in love with it.  I hope that you enjoy it and it blesses you.

Say yes to God

Y- Yield yourself

E- examine yourself

S- surrender yourself
